Hal Thompson is a regular, down-to-earth guy trying to set a good example for his young adult daughter and son. Newly widowed, he's just beginning to put his life back together again in between the grieving and wants the same for Wendy and Brian. So he agrees to be present when Brian undergoes a past life regression session. It's quite a yarn that emerges but Hal thinks no more of it - imagine, being a sailor on a doomed Pearl Harbor ship. When his kids turn up some interesting research, Hal agrees to try one session just to show his kids he's open.

But Hal doesn't have a clue as to what he experiences in that session, being a fellow explorer in search of gold during the time of Cortes (or Cortez as we know him from history), will lead to an even more frightening and yet fascinating memory of his former life and great love he knew in that time.

Unfortunately, once some crooked archeologists learn of his experience through a newsletter, they are determined to find out specifically where the treasure is that Hal died trying to get in his former life.

The plot is fast and the characters are credible and yield just enough curiosity and willingness to make this one heck of a great adventurous yarn.

Great summer reading or for any other season! So relax and get ready to explore the amazing, awesome wonders of past lives!
