Fifteen Morgan Horses are decked out and eager to compete - all proceed through the practiced routine that will hopefully win the prize for which each trainer and owner dreams. Polly, the sixteenth horse, is however having a tough time of it. She's been roughly handled by her cruel trainer and reacts to the painful pulling of the bit in her mouth, as well as the kicks she hates that make her jumpy and even more nervous.

So begins the tale of a beautiful, talented Morgan Horse, who is fortunate enough to escape her trainer, a fire, as well as a lonely and frightening journey through strange territory. But she's about to meet someone who can sense what has happened in Polly's past and believes she's worth healing and retraining.

Given a new name, Annie begins to react to the love and kindness of Chauncy and Heather. While Chauncy is worried about losing Annie once her true owner is found and the mystery trail continues, Annie shows she is more than capable of winning the championship at the Vermont Morgan Horse club.

Annie... is more than just a story about winning show competitions for horses. It's about how to bond with and treat horses - any animal for that matter - and how that brings out the best in all involved. Even if you've never ridden a horse, you'll wind up wanting to try after reading this sensitive and tender novel - and you will definitely be even more interested in finding out more about this particular breed of proud, talented Morgan horses!
