Imagine being a tortured and lost slave for seven years and finally escaping to return to the security of one's dearest wife and loyal soldiers! The anticipation grows as Lord Guy of Hartford approaches his home, Hartford Keep, on the Northwest Coast of England in March of 1171. Upon arrival, imagine being so unrecognized initially and then finding one's wife, Elizabeth, giving birth to a child obviously not one's own!

The past is unforgiving in its torturous memories and the present is no kinder as Guy attempts to maintain sanity in a world where nothing remains sacred and all are strained with unspoken knowledge.

The die is cast, it seems, but these characters are leaders because, after all, they possess above-normal strength and fortitude. Thus Guy proceeds to establish his leadership, restore the military strength of his keep and learn the precise nature of the secret he knows Elizabeth is harboring. Elizabeth, on the other hand, spiritedly decides to win back her husband's love and relative trust as much as possible. Wild scenes of remorse, confessions, and passion between this dynamic couple are riveting and deliciously credible.

In the midst of this drama that seems to forge ahead with success, the father of Elizabeth's daughter appears to demand his paternal rights. Before anything can happen, Elizabeth herself disappears and Guy now realizes what he must do to find her and create a clear, clean path for the future.

Denise Lynn's writing has matured indeed. Bedded By His Lord is passionate, historically intriguing, and plot-driven to hold the reader's attention, pleasure and admiration to the very last page! Congratulations again, Ms. Lynn - great medieval Harlequin fiction!
